Jungle Bungy Jump

Posted in Diary, Travel by Alvin on November 25, 2009

It was actually an impromptu decision.

The whole process started with registration and health declaration. We were then led by the staff to the bungy site with the 50m bungee tower grounded right in the middle of the compound with a lake right under the tower. There’s a little hut to get jumpers ready and that’s where the whole actual process starts.

At the hut, body weight was measured to make proper adjustment on the bungee rope. Proper gears were attached on both legs. Legs were practically glued to each other, which makes walking impossible. Hopped or kangaroo as how the bungy staff named it to the elevator.

The elevator made its way up the tower after the last safety check was done. Jumpmaster gave some important reminders before the elevator reaches the 50m height, ready for jumpers to bungee.

Right before the jumpmaster goes ‘1,2,3 bungee!’. The final step before complying to gravity was no doubt,  the toughest.

And the certificate of courage goes ‘The holder of this certificate has courageously joined the elite group of thrillseekers to experience the ultimate thrill of their lives, by bungee jumping, here in Thailand’.

Despite adrenaline, palpitation, fear and losing quite an amount of Baht, it definitely worth the jump.

Ticked that imaginary box next to bungee jumping in my bucket list.

Northern Thailand cuisine at Nimmanhemin Road was great. So was the emerald blue sky and city skyline from Doi Suthep.

That probably summed up Day 1 at Chiang Mai.

Currently enjoying the company of paddy field, buffalos and sticky rice.
